A new Netflix series is poking fun at murder thrillers, and it involves Kristen Bell as lead sleuth-slash-witness.

In “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window,” Bell plays “heartbroken Anna” who lives a monotonous life, according to a synopsis for the show.

“She sits with her wine, staring out the window, watching life go by without her. But when a handsome neighbor (Tom Riley) and his adorable daughter (Samsara Yett) move in across the street, Anna starts to see a light at the end of the tunnel,” the synopsis states. “That is until she witnesses a gruesome murder... Or did she?”

While Bell’s character may technically live alone, she is often visited by visions of her dead daughter, Slash Film reports. The daughter apparently died after Anna's estranged husband (played by Michael Ealy), brought their kid to Take Your Daughter to Work Day because the husband is a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI who specialized in serial killers. As a result of the daddy-daughter outing, apparently Massacre Mike uh, massacred the child.

The series, which is up on the streaming platform now, slates itself as a “darkly comedic, wine-soaked, satirical slant on the psychological thriller that will have you guessing who, what, where, why and how in the hell?! until the very end.”

Slash Film reports that the film appears to be a parody of "Woman in the Window," a 2021 thriller (itself an homage to the Hitchcock classic "Rear Window") starring Amy Adams, so you may want to watch that for reference. Either way, the series is just eight very short episodes — less than 30 minutes a pop — which are perfect for binging.

Bell executive-produced the limited series alongside Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Brittney Segal for Gloria Sanchez Productions.
