What to know about Evelyn's, the newest Nashville restaurant to open at the Hutton Hotel

A casual fine dining restaurant with an iconic muse is set to open Wednesday at the Hutton Hotel on West End Avenue.

Evelyn's, an American concept named for Evelyn Sharp, a 20th century hotelier, investor, socialite and art collector, features several commissioned and curated art pieces in a space designed by New York-based firm AvroKO.

Guests can expect an elevated yet approachable seasonal menu reminiscent of a dinner party at the home of their favorite hostess.

"Evelyn's anchors the property from a food and beverage standpoint," said Seán Carney, the hotel's general manager. "It's a social gathering place and homage to Evelyn Sharp."

Here's everything you should know before visiting the new dining option, open now for breakfast, weekend brunch and dinner.

About the menu

The menu at Evelyn's will rotate seasonally in accordance with locally-available produce. The restaurant's dinner menu will feature a starters menu including steak tartare, burrata tartine with heirloom tomatoes and a dish of roasted artichoke hearts.

Who is the muse?

Evelyn Sharp was a New York City businesswoman who owned and managed some of the most recognizable hotel properties in the country. She made a name for herself as an interior designer, often billing clients in the hotel and hospitality industry, including properties owned by her husband, Jesse Sharp.

She was widowed in 1941, but quickly took charge of her late husband's portfolio. She eventually bought her own notable list of properties and later devoted herself to her work in philanthropy and art, endowing the Evelyn Sharp Foundation benefitting the arts.

Evelyn's pays tribute to its namesake through design and identity, emulating the socialite's affinity for European grandeur and artistic patronage.

Use of space

The space is bright yet comfortable at Evelyn's, with tones of warm green and cozy touches throughout. At night, the ambience is driven by candlelight.

Two private dining rooms and a comfortable patio space rounds out the seating. The restaurant is complimented by a recent lobby transformation at the Hutton, which also boasts an intimate and somewhat hidden music and entertainment venue called Analog.

Carney said he sees the restaurant's opening as a fit for the hotel and the surrounding neighborhood.

"The building has stood the test of time," he said. "It's ideally positioned for rebirth... We have a lot to offer to anyone who is coming to Nashville."
