What to know about the Colorado State football 2023 spring game and surrounding festivities

This weekend offers a chance to get your last taste of live football until the college football season begins in the fall

Spring practices are concluding and finish for the Colorado State football team on Saturday, April 22 with the green and gold spring game.

Here's what to know about the game and surrounding activities.

When/where: Spring game begins at 1 p.m. Saturday at Canvas Stadium.

Format: The game format is "1's vs. the World." The No. 1 offense and defense will make up one team and the backups will be the other. The backups will start the game with a predetermined lead (last season it was 21-0) and the starters are tasked with coming back to win.

How to attend/ticketing: No tickets are required and the spring game is free to attend. Gates open at noon for the 1 p.m. kickoff. Canvas Stadium's clear bag policy will be in effect.

Parking: Lots Nos. 195, 425, 210 and 570 will be open for parking.

Concessions: The New Belgium Porch and some concessions will be open.

Saturday's weather in Fort Collins: The current forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and a high of 46 degrees with a slight chance of rain.

Other events

Grit Run: The spring game isn't the only event of the weekend. The Grit run to benefit cystic fibrosis research begins at 10 a.m. The 5K run was started by Kim Norvell, wife of coach Jay Norvell. Kim battles cystic fibrosis and all the money raised will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Pre-race registration can be done on-site beginning at 8:30 a.m., or you can register in advance online. Registration is $25 for the general public and $20 each or $15 each for team of five or more for students.

The event raised more than $20,000 last year.

Youth clinic: Kids ages 8-13 are invited to participate in a clinic on the field led by CSU coaches and players following the game. Day-of registration begins at noon on the west concourse inside Canvas Stadium, or those interested can preregister online.
