Who Knew Sir Paul McCartney Was a C5 Corvette Guy?

Sir Paul McCartney was recently spotted leaving a secluded music studio in Los Angeles, California behind the wheel of one of his sports cars. The legend wasn’t driving a Ferrari or something from Great Britain, but rather a thoroughly American C5 generation Chevrolet Corvette.

The brief interaction was uploaded to TikTok by user truecelebritypop, which shows The Beatles icon in the sports car. The fans are largely respectful of McCartney’s time, allowing the beloved musician to roll through without any incident. McCartney does give those standing by a brief wave, before dipping into some traffic outside of Hollywood.

The car in question is a C5 Corvette convertible, finished in Navy Blue Metallic with a tan soft top. The C5 generation model was a major leap forward for the nameplate, bringing the LS1 V-8 engine, as well as the rebirth of Corvette Racing on the global stage. This particular example appears to be equipped with an automatic transmission, but perhaps that is to be expected considering McCartney is 81 years young. It’s pretty exciting to see such an icon driving around in what is a fairly normal car, particularly one that doesn’t cost well into the six figure range. Of course McCartney could afford the very latest and greatest from Chevrolet, but a new Z06 is certainly a bit less discreet on the road.

For as good as the C5 Corvette is to drive, they don’t exactly snap necks on the street these days. This isn’t the first time that McCartney has been spotted in his aging blue Corvette either, with the C5 making regular appearances in paparazzi images over the years. Who would’ve guessed that McCartney was a C5 diehard?
