KJ Apa Shares the Sweetest Story About His ‘Riverdale’ Dad Luke Perry (Video)

You might want to stop reading right here and grab the Kleenex. All set? KJ Apa remembered his “Riverdale” dad Luke Perry on Friday’s “Tonight Show.” It was a really, really sweet segment.

“It’s not everyday you come across a guy like Luke,” Apa told Jimmy Fallon. “Luke is the kind of person who did everything he can to make whoever you are — no matter how big or small that you are — feel comfortable and feel welcome.”

“It’s hard to kind of put into words how that makes me feel,” Apa added.

An emotional Apa told Fallon that he and his TV father “had a really close relationship.” And so did his CW dad and his real one.

“He would call my parents every week and keep them updating on how I’m [doing],” Apa recalled. “Like if I had a cold or something, he’d be like, ‘I took some Gatorade to his apartment the other day.'”

“Him and my dad were boys, texting each other and stuff,” Apa, who plays Archie Andrews on the teen drama, continued. “He made such a huge effort from the very beginning… I wish I could be like that.”

Sounds like you’ve stumbled upon a great way to try to honor the man, KJ.
