Joe Locke isn't the only Heartstopper actor leaving a mark on Broadway; Kit Connor will also be making his Broadway debut shortly alongside Rachel Zegler in a new iteration of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Following two succinct teasers posted by Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler, the two actors were announced as the leads of Broadway's Romeo + Juliet on April 16, 2024. “Kit Connor is Romeo + Rachel Zegler is Juliet. On Broadway this fall. ❤️🗡️,” the show's official Instagram page wrote in a post sharing a first-look picture of the duo together.

Romeo + Juliet will be directed by Sam Gold, while Sonya Tayeh has been tapped on the movement front. The production will be a Broadway first not only for Connor, but also Zegler and Antonoff.

Left to their own devices in their parents' world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”
Roughly a month after the initial announcement, on May 22, the first look at Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler in Romeo + Juliet was unveiled on social media featuring a new original song by Jack Antonoof titled “Tiny Moves.”
The video, which you can watch below, gives us a glimpse into the two actors' chemistry and heavily emphasizes the Gen Z aspect of the play. (Did you ever picture a version of Juliet wearing a Heaven by Marc Jacobs necklace? We didn't think so but we love!)
If you want to go see Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler when Romeo + Juliet makes its way to Broadway later this fall, act fast, as the play is slated for a strictly limited engagement. Early access tickets for Romeo + Juliet went on sale at romeoandjulietnyc.com to coincide with the video release in May.
