KISS Meets Scooby-Doo: You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best (Times 2!)

You wanted the best, you got the best, times two: KISS and Scooby-Doo, together again! Rock gods Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer, and Eric Singer descended on Comic-Con in San Diego to hype the future animated classic Scooby-Doo! and KISS: Rock & Roll Mystery. The movie, which is available to download July 10, centers on a mystery at the band’s amusement park KISS World (sadly, not a real place) involving the sinister Crimson Witch (voiced by NCIS star Pauley Perrette). “It was one of those things that seems a little strange to most people,” says Stanley, “but for us it was like, ‘Hell, yeah.’”

And for those of you who immediately associate KISS and haunted amusement park with the cult classic KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park… well, that’s not entirely coincidental. Phantom “was a movie we did with Hanna-Barbera way back in 1978 or so,” says Simmons. “Ironically enough Hanna-Barbera also created Scooby-Doo!, so it’s a full cycle.”

Scooby-Doo! and KISS: Rock & Roll Mystery is available for download on July 10, and on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 21.
