Having a Hollywood couple restore our faith in love is rare, to say the least. With break ups and make ups and rumors and heartbreak constantly inundating our feeds, having at least one faithful pairing to look up to is a gift — and Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons take the cake. Coworkers turned lovers is one of the all-time best meet cutes, and this pair’s relationship history will warn your cold heart.

Here’s a look back at Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons’ relationship timeline.

2015: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons first meet

Kirsten and Jesse met on the set of the FX series Fargo, where they played married high school sweethearts for two seasons. Although Kirsten was in a relationship with Garrett Hedlund at the time, that didn’t stop the pair from becoming fast friends — and even better coworkers.

When asked about working with Dunst in 2015 at PaleyFest, Plemons said “it was a gift.” “I loved Kirsten’s work for a long time, and I was really excited once I’d met her, and she’s a great person, and we’re both actors that just … have fun with the material,” he said.

May 2016: The pair is spotted together—romantically—for the first time

In May 2016, the pair was caught kissing by paparazzi. This solidified their romantic relationship to the world — even if they didn’t formally comment on it at them time.

“It was one of those connections where you just know,” Dunst told the New York Times. “But we’re also very respectful people and were mindful of the fact that we were working together intensely. After we were done with the show, we’d FaceTime now and then, and I just missed him. I missed being around him. And he did, too. We didn’t get together until the following March, when we’d had the time to realize how much we missed each other and how much we wanted to be in each others’ lives.”

January 2017: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons get engaged

Dunst was spotted wearing a ring on that finger in January of 2017, sparking rumors that the pair was engaged. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June 2017, Kirsten confirmed the rumors — as well as her father’s inability to keep a secret.

"I could tell [by looking at] my dad's face at Christmas. He's a bad liar," she said. "I'm like, 'Did you talk to Jesse?' and he's like, 'No! What are you talking about?'”

"I've got to keep things private a little bit. We got together a year afterwards. We became really good friends first,” she said. "You're like, ‘Oh, I really love this person. I love hanging out with him.'"

January 2018: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons confirm first pregnancy

The pair start 2018 off with a bang by revealing they’re pregnant with their first child. Dunst first confirmed the news by showing off her baby bump in Rodarte’s Fall-Winter 2018 portrait series in January 2018.

May 3, 2018: Their first child is born

The pair’s first son, Ennis Howard, was born in May of 2018. "I thought I would have a hard time getting pregnant, but it was a surprise,” she told Net-a-Porter, reflecting on her experience. “If I hadn’t met Jesse, I would have frozen my eggs. [But] it feels like I lucked out."

"Aside from the brilliant actor you are, I have also had the even greater pleasure of getting to know you as a person outside of work — KiKi or Keeks,” Plemons said in a speech at the ceremony. “Seeing the kind of mother and wife, daughter, sister, friend and cohort you are is why I and all of your friends and everyone else are here today and why we all love you.”

January 2020: Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons take their family to New Zealand

Kirsten and Jesse both starred in Power of the Dog, which was filming in New Zealand when COVID-19 hit. And we have two old cats living with us, one of whom, Sid, brings us a mouse every night. Last night, Jesse and I were sitting outside and he brings a full rabbit." The film premiered in November 2021.

April 2021: The pair’s second child is born

Their second son, James Robert, was born in April 2021. "This is the newest guy, the Big Kahuna," Dunst told the New York Times. "He's an angel, but he's a hungry angel. And a heavy angel.”

"It's funny. I wasn't sure how different [marriage] was gonna feel because we've been together for a while and, two kids later, it's pretty solid, you know?" he told Entertainment Tonight. "But there was something really nice about [a wedding] and actually setting aside time to celebrate it, and it does feel different, in a good way."
