Just two days after Kirk Douglas’ death, his family and friends have gathered the mourn the star’s passing. Hollywood has been rocked by the loss of this legendary star, who broke through boundaries and changed the film industry forever. Now, Douglas has been laid to rest, with those he loves most at his side.

People reports that Douglas’ funeral took place on Friday, February 7, at the Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles. Attendees included daughter-in-law Catherine Zeta-Jones, and his three surviving sons: Michael, Peter, and Joel. Douglas’ widow Anne Buydens was with the family as well, arriving to the service in a wheelchair.

Douglas and Buydens were married for 65 years, and their love was the stuff of Hollywood legends. He died at the age of 103, passing away just two months after his birthday, and leaving a hole in the heart of all those he left behind.

In an Instagram statement, son Michael wrote about the profound impact father Kirk had had on his life: “Kirk’s life was well-lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet,” he wrote. “Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”

Rest in peace, Kirk Douglas. Our thoughts are with his family as they get through this difficult time.
