A third film in the Kingsman franchise is reportedly in the works, with franchise director Matthew Vaughn even recently revealing its working title of Kingsman: The Blue Blood.

However, this long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle isn’t the only spy-related project that Vaughn has on his books.

In addition to The Blue Blood, he’s also written a script for a new instalment of the Kingsman prequel series, The King’s Man, which tells the story of how the eponymous British secret service agency initially came to be during World War I’s darkest hours.

Each story is adapted from the graphic novel series The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Millar also wrote the original Kick Ass comic series which Vaughn adapted back in 2010 and together, these two franchises form part of a shared ‘Millarverse.’

With even more spy action on the way, here’s everything you need to know about Kingsman: The Blue Blood…

Kingsman: The Blue Blood does not yet have a release date.

That said, as soon as production begins, we’re sure that’ll change. As soon as news on the film’s debut date arrives, you’ll find it here.

The first film in Vaughn’s series, Kingsman: The Secret Service, followed Taron Egerton’s Gary ‘Eggsy” Unwin, a new recruit to the Kingsman team who is taken under the wing of old-school pro Harry Hart, played by Colin Firth.

Together, they were joined by an ensemble cast of stars including Mark Strong’s gadget man Merlin, Sophie Cookson’s Kingsman trainee Roxy, Mark Hamill’s Professor Arnold and Kingsman leader Chester King, played by Sir Michael Caine. Together, they went up against a villain known as Richmond Valentine, played by Samuel L. Jackson with a lisp.

Many of the film’s original players – including Egerton, Firth and Strong – returned for the series’ second instalment which saw the Kingsman join forces with their American counterparts the Statesmen. The Golden Circle also saw the likes of Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum and even music superstar Elton John join in the action.

While part three is slowly coming together, it’s still a little too early to know for sure who might be returning to the fold or which new faces might be joining the franchise. That said, series centrepiece Egerton spoke to Collider in March 2023 and seemingly confirmed his excitement at returning.

“[Vaughn] has every intention of making it, and I have every intention of playing Eggsy one more time,” he told the outlet. ”That was always what I thought I was committed to doing. It’s the role that made my name, so I suppose, in a way, I just want it to be absolutely right if we do it again, and I want the story to do justice to the part that really changed my life.“

He added: ”I want it to be a fitting ending. And I would, obviously, really hope that Colin [Firth] would come back for at least a part of it, and who knows?

“We’ll have to see, but we are planning to talk about it, actually, the next time we see one another, so who knows? Watch this space. [...] [Vaughn is] certainly not backing off the idea.”

As it stands, no casting details have been announced so we’ll have to wait to see if Eggsy, Firth or any other familiar Kingsman stars will be back for The Blue Blood.

Despite having a working title, we’re still not sure what plot Kingsman: The Blue Blood will follow. That said, we do know that Vaughn is hard at work on the script.

“We’ve got to get on with Kingsman 3 because I was joking that Colin is going to end up being a portrait on the side while Taron is Arthur,” the director told recent a Q&A event in October 2023.

“So we are working on that at the moment,” he added, before confirming that the threequel is due to start filming in 2024. “Next year we’re rebooting Kick-Ass and we're making Kingsman 3.”

Initially, Kingsman 3 was due to start filming immediately after the franchise’s first prequel, The King’s Man before production was placed on hold in the wake of the pandemic.

Despite this, Edgerton says he has pitched his own ideas to Vaughn although he’s unsure whether or not any of them will feature in his final script.

“I have an idea for Kingsman. I have my own idea that I would like to pitch to Matthew, and I think that will be happening soon, but he has the wheels in motion on a big idea of his own," he told Collider. "So who knows, you know? Who knows where it will land?”

A sequel to The King’s Man is also in the works, with The King’s Man: The Traitor King reportedly featuring an appearance by Adolf Hitler himself. “We’ve written it and it’s pretty cool,” teased Vaugn on the prequel.

Unfortunately, there’s no trailer available for Kingsman: The Blue Blood just yet.
