Just one game into the season, the Sacramento Kings have been dealt tough injury news. Center Marvin Bagley III is expected to miss the next four to six weeks with a non-displaced right thumb fracture, the team announced.

The former 2018 No. 2 overall pick underwent an MRI Thursday morning; his injury was sustained in the Kings’ opening night loss to the Phoenix Suns. His recovery timeline projects he’ll be back in action in late November or early December.

Despite the 124-95 loss, Bagley III got his season off to a strong start with a double-double Wednesday on the road. He put 14 points and 10 rebounds on the board in 28 minutes.

In his rookie season, the 6-11 lefty earned NBA All-Rookie Team honors, averaging 14.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and an assist while seeing playing time in 62 games (four starts).
