Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes Blu-Ray Includes Mind-Blowing Extra

There’s an incredible extra feature coming in the Blu-ray release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
According to the film’s director Wes Ball, you’ll be able to watch a version of the movie without the CGI effects. In other words, all of the apes are their original actors in mo-cap suits.
Speaking to YouTube channel Ape Nation, Ball says, “I’m doing a little thing where you can watch the movie, the entire movie, with the raw dailies. I’m working on that where you’ll be able to watch, and just see the final and the raw dailies.”

Ball continues, “Sometimes there’s no dailies at all. And you’ll be able to see how close they get and what they do and how they stitch everything together.”
As you can see in this clip, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes scenes reveal thousands of CGI apes.
Ball says one of the biggest challenges is getting a CGI character to interact with a human one. This incredible behind-the-scenes extra will show how they did it. There’ll also be commentary, but Ball resisted the urge to detail the film’s home release any further because “I’m not sure if I’m giving something away.”
