King DMC of Run DMC teases the potential of a biopic on the legendary group after previously being opposed to the idea. During an interview with AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur, the 59-year-old explored the possibility of his story being dramatized for a film.

“Nah, a matter of fact, we talking about two biopics,” explained the Queens native. He continued to detail how the potential projects would be executed, and why he changed his mind about the idea.

“I didn’t want to jump on a biopic bandwagon,” detailed the “Walk This Way” performer. “That’s why. After the documentary airs, you could tell a story. There’s so many stories in the Run-DMC biopic though. So after this airs, what segment are you going to take out of this to do the biopic? You’re going to tell D meets Run and this and that. That’s impossible to tell. So a little teaser is maybe we’ll do a biopic focusing on the Raising Hell years. That’ll be very interesting.”

The revelation comes as he and group member Rev. Run released a non-fiction documentary. Kings From Queens: The RUN DMC Story, now streaming on Peacock, is described as “the story of how three kids from Queens busted on the scene in 1983, shattered racial barriers, and changed music forever.”

Exclusive interviews from RUN DMC, as well as Ice Cube, LL COOL J, Questlove, Beastie Boys, Ice-T, Chuck D, Tom Morello, Salt, Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Ed Lover, Jermaine Dupri, and many more are all featured in the three-part series.

“I am very happy that the world is going to see our great story,” explained Rev. Run Simmons. “So thankful for all that participated in helping us over the years. I started out as a young DJ Run and ended up impacting the world with my group RUN DMC. I am blessed to have been on this amazing journey.”
