Editor's note: An earlier version of this roundup included the Brewers' Winter Fest Warm-Up. On Thursday afternoon, the Brewers canceled the Jan. 13 event because of "forecasted winter storm over the next two days and deteriorating travel conditions." Also, a candlelight hike in Havenwoods State Forest, which also had been included in the earlier version of this roundup, has been postponed to Feb. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Martin Luther King birthday celebration at Marcus Center

The Marcus Performing Arts Center hosts its 40th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration in Uihlein Hall, 929 N. Water St. at 4 p.m. Jan. 15. Following student speeches, there'll be a concert featuring Anthony McGahee and Praise Motivated Choir. Admission is free. Info: marcuscenter.org.

King Day Celebration at King Community Center

“Words Seldom Spoken — A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” is the theme of the King Day event at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in King Park, 1531 W. Vliet St. There will be music, dance and spoken-word performances. It starts at noon Jan. 15; an open house follows the program at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. Info: countyparks.com.

MBA Home Building & Remodeling Show at State Fair Park

The Metropolitan Builders Association's Home Building & Remodeling Show returns to the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park in West Allis. More than 100 vendors and contractors will be on hand. The show's hours are noon to 7 p.m. Jan. 12, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 13, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 14. Tickets are $10, $6 for members of the military and seniors 65 and older. Info: mbabuilds.org.

Milwaukee Art Museum launches Winter Series with 'Iceberg'

The Milwaukee Art Museum starts its Winter Series — highlighting art inspired by nature, in the light-filled Quadracci Pavilion — Jan. 13 with the installation of Larry Bell's mammoth, laminated-glass sculpture "Iceberg" (2020). The seasonally appropriate piece will be on view in the pavilion's atrium through March 10. Admission to the atrium is free. Info: mam.org.
