King Charles and Prince William Wear the Same Tie for Memorable Joint Appearance

King Charles III and Prince William looked to be in good spirits at a joint appearance in England today—their first since the British monarch was diagnosed with cancer in March.

The father and son adorably coordinated in suits and the same exact tie for the memorable engagement, which saw the British monarch pass the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to his elder son and heir. The ceremony took place at the Army Aviation Centre in Stockbridge, Hampshire, in England.

For the occasion, William looked dapper in a bright navy suit, crisp white shirt, glossy black shoes, and a navy, white, and red striped tie. Charles wore a light gray suit, white shirt, brown shoes, and the same tie. He further accessorized with a pocket square in the same colors as the tie and a golden pin.

Both royals were all smiles throughout the engagement.

The official handover of the military role comes several days after Buckingham Palace announced in a statement obtained by Harper’s Bazaar that the king had decided to take the military role from younger son Prince Harry and give it to William. While shocking, the news comes four years after Harry stepped back as a senior member of the royal family to move to California with wife Duchess Meghan and raise their two kids.

The Duke of Sussex himself stopped by London for his own event—the Invictus Games anniversary celebration—last week, though he did not see his father, as the monarch was reportedly too busy.
