Given King Charles’s health challenges, his participation in public events has significantly decreased. Yet, he decided to have a meeting with football star David Beckham, rather than go to a notable event organized by his son Prince Harry — who just happens to be one of Prince Harry’s former pals.

Beckham, aged 49, had a “private meeting” with King Charles on Friday, May 10. The purpose? To discuss the ins and outs of the King’s Foundation, an educational charity striving to empower community-led design, per The Times.

Meanwhile, the Duke of Sussex recently returned to British soil. He was there to celebrate a significant milestone — the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, an initiative deeply important to him. The celebration featured a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday, May 8, located not far from Buckingham Palace. Despite sending invitations to King Charles Charles, Prince William, and Princess Kate Middleton, Harry attended the event without them.

According to a spokesperson for Prince Harry, conflicting schedules were the reason the King couldn’t find time for a reunion with his youngest son. However, royal commentator Charlotte Griffith suggests there might have been deeper issues at play. Speaking to GB News, Griffith revealed, “There is some talk that behind the scenes, a lot of negotiating went on.” The crux? Harry’s specific conditions regarding the guest list, particularly his stance on Queen Camilla’s presence during their family interactions.

The Beckhams and Sussexes once shared a close friendship, especially when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were active within the royal circle. This bond was tested in 2022 following allegations by Prince Harry that Beckham had leaked private conversations to the press — a claim that reportedly strained their relationship.

The alleged snub has not gone unnoticed, sparking debate among observers and insiders alike. A former palace staffer previously expressed concern, suggesting that while King Charles aims to maintain a personal relationship with Prince Harry, he seems reluctant to publicly support the Invictus Games. This, according to the insider, could send mixed signals to the general public — many of whom admire the charity’s work but remain distant from the daily operations of the royal family.
