King Charles, Camilla release first official portraits since coronation: See them here

King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla released their first official portraits following the coronation.

The portraits, taken by photographer Hugo Burnand and released by Buckingham Palace, arrived on the royal family's official Instagram account Monday, along with a message from King Charles.

"As the Coronation weekend draws to a close, my wife and I just wanted to share our most sincere and heartfelt thanks to all those who have helped to make this such a special occasion," reads the caption on a photo of the couple together. "We pay particular tribute to the countless people who have given their time and dedication to ensuring that the celebrations in London, Windsor and further afield were as happy, safe and enjoyable as possible."

The statement continued: "To those who joined in the celebrations - whether at home, at street parties and lunches, or by volunteering in communities - we thank you, each and every one. To know that we have your support and encouragement, and to witness your kindness expressed in so many different ways, has been the greatest possible Coronation gift, as we now rededicate our lives to serving the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and Commonwealth."

The caption concluded with the sign-off "Charles R."

In his solo photo, Charles wears the Imperial State Crown and the Robe of Estate while holding the Sovereign's Orb and Sovereign's Sceptre with Cross. He's seated in one of a pair of 1902 throne chairs made for King George V and Queen Mary to sit in at King Edward VII's coronation.

In another photo, Camilla stands while wearing a white dress as well as Queen Mary's Crown and the Robe of Estate.

The two also posed for a portrait together, as well as one with other members of the royal family.

Those in the group photo include Prince Edward, Duke of Kent; Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester; Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester; Sir Tim Laurence, Vice Admiral; Anne, Princess Royal; the King and the Queen; Prince William of Wales and Princess Catherine of Wales; Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh; Princess Alexandra, the Honourable Lady Ogilvy; and Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Harry and Prince Andrew, who attended the coronation but were both absent from the Buckingham Palace balcony at the end of the ceremony, were not featured in the photo.

While King Charles III has been monarch from the moment his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died on Sept. 8, 2022, the coronation ceremony Saturday marked a formal confirmation of his role as head of state.
