Kim Roth Named Production President at Charles D. King’s Macro
Long-time Imagine Entertainment production chief Kim Roth is taking over the top production job at Macro, the multi-platform media company launched by former WME partner Charles D. King.
The hiring of Roth brings a proven, hands-on executive to the venture that King started this year to create and distribute content to under-served multicultural audiences, including African-Americans and Latinos.

Roth will oversee Macro’s slate of film and television projects. She joined Ron Howard and Brian Grazer’s Imagine in 1999 and rose to president of production. Before that, Roth spent more than 10 years at Witt/Thomas Productions. In 16 years at Imagine, Roth’s credits included comedies like Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy’s “Tower Heist,” Vince Vaughn and Kevin James’s “The Dilemma,” and “Fun With Dick & Jane,” starring Jim Carrey, along with dramas like Denzel Washington’s “Inside Man” and “The Good Lie,” starring Reese Witherspoon.
More recently, Roth produced “Mena,” with Tom Cruise, a 2017 release about a CIA spy turned drug smuggler. She was executive producer on the Eva Longoria project “Lowriders” and is in post-production on “Love the Coopers,” starring Diane Keaton, Alan Arkin, Amanda Seyfried and Olivia Wilde, which is due in theaters on Nov. 13. She also produced “Pelé,” the life story of the Brazilian football legend, set to be released in 2016.
Roth is a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and a board member for Inner-City Filmmakers.
King described himself as “overjoyed” at the hiring of Roth. “She is, hands down, one of the top producers working today and it’s safe to say that her vast experience and her amazing skill at managing people and productions, both large and small, are unmatched in this business,” King added, in a statement.
The Macro founder, the only African-American to rise from the mailroom to partner in the history of WME, also praised Roth’s ability “to connect with all types of people,” which he says makes her perfect for his company and its mission.
Roth expressed excitement about joining the new venture, saying she looked forward to working with King and producing “passionate, provocative and impactful entertainment that speaks to and about our multicultural society.”
Executives previously hired by the Hollywood-based company include Ronald Hohauser as chief financial officer, Poppy Hanks as senior vice president for development and production, and Michael Palank as vice president of digital and business development.
