Kim Kardashian West Defends Meghan Markle — & Honestly, It Totally Makes Sense

Meghan Markle has faced a lot of scrutiny in the past two years — arguably as much as any woman on the planet. But if there’s one person who can understand the way Meghan’s life has been thrust under a microscope, it’s Kim Kardashian West. Because, let’s face it: If there’s one thing a Kardashian can understand, it’s having every single thing you do become a topic of conversation. With that in mind, Kardashian West’s recent comments in defense of Meghan actually shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

While Kardashian West was visiting Armenia, she was asked her thoughts on the royal saga. Though it may be easy to say Meghan and Kardashian West have little in common (royalty and reality TV occupy pretty different realms!), Kardashian West was quick to draw similarities between two famous women’s lives, and she demonstrated a clear understanding of what Meghan and Prince Harry face as public figures while doing so.

“I think that everyone makes their own choices and decisions,” she told a local reporter, as the Daily Mail reports. “And I think that, like I said, no one’s gonna be perfect. I’m not, they’re not. I don’t know who is.” And, just like that, she nailed it: Meghan isn’t perfect, but no one is, and having endless criticism of her choices and life broadcast on such a large stage can’t be easy. That’s something only another celebrity can truly understand, and while it may seem out of left field for Kardashian West to weigh in on Meghan, she actually is, in some ways, the perfect person to make a statement like this.

Kardashian West continued to praise Meghan. “I still love and value the fact they bring such attention to such important movements that need to happen and things that they’re really passionate about cause they’re still changing the world,” she added.

This isn’t the first time a member of the Kardashian family has sent some love to the Duke and Duchess. According to People, Khloé Kardashian and Kris Jenner were every bit as into the royal wedding as we were, and they live-streamed their viewing party via Instagram stories. “This is so beautiful. Finally, that’s what I was waiting for,” Kardashian reportedly said, as the royal couple kissed on the steps of St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Though we may not have expected the Kardashians to come to Meghan’s defense, we are happy to see someone speaking up for her — because the treatment she’s received is flat-out unfair. And, like Kardashian West said, no one is perfect. So why should the rest of the world expect Meghan to be?
