Kim Kardashian Wears Chanel Necklace from “Barbie” Movie for Usher's Super Bowl Halftime News

The reality TV star wore the rare jewelry, which was first seen on the catwalk in 1995, after finding it for sale during her August trip to Japan

When Kim Kardashian was recruited to help her longtime friend Usher reveal the news via social media that he would perform during the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show, she channeled '90s glamor for the video, which may have felt familiar to Barbie fans and vintage fashion lovers alike.

In the video released Sunday revealing the news the "Caught Up" singer would be the featured performer at the halftime show presented by Apple Music, the Skims founder, 42, had her makeup expertly applied while wearing a white cropped T-shirt and her hair in Veronica Lake-style waves as she called Usher to tell him about his new gig.

Kardashian paired her simple look with a bold statement necklace made of colorful gemstones and teardrop pearls interlocked with gold hardware composed of Chanel logos. This turned out to be the same piece of jewelry worn by Margot Robbie's titular character during a scene in the Barbie movie.

While Robbie's character wore the exact same necklace in Barbie, hers had the addition of a pink heart pendant. She paired it with a bright pink mini dress and Chanel purse in the shape of a heart.

The rare bauble is a custom piece that was modeled by Shalom Harlow on the catwalk in 1995 as part of Karl Lagerfeld's Spring/Summer collection that year for the French luxury fashion house, according to Vogue.

Per Vogue, The Kardashians star reportedly purchased the statement piece on her August trip to Japan, where she visited the vintage clothing store Vintage Ecoland in Nagoya. She posted about her new find on her Instagram Story.

Kardashian and Usher, 44, have been friends for many years. The reality TV star even attempted to fly into Las Vegas last October via private jet to attend the singer's residency for her birthday. However, her plans were derailed due to dangerous weather conditions in the city, which included 60 mph wind gusts.

Usher will take the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, during the big game on Feb. 11, 2024.

It's been a busy week for the Kardashian, who on Monday was revealed as CR Fashion Book’s latest cover star. In the magazine spread, she ditched her signature long, dark waves to sport a buzz cut.

In one photo, she also models a Miu Miu cardigan and tights and, in another, she's made up like a ballerina in a red Jacquemus V-neck sweater and tutu, Falke tights and lace-up flats. 

With the issue, out on Oct. 2, based around muse mentality, Kardashian also shared her list of icons, including Old Hollywood stars Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe as well as her sisters Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner and their mom Kris Jenner.

“Kourtney always knows what she wants and doesn’t fold when it hasn’t been done before or it’s not the typical path," Kardashian told CR Fashion Book. "I respect her so much for that."

Kardashian continued, "Khloé’s attention to detail is unmatched and she has the biggest heart in the world. I admire her soul. Kendall is a fun, free spirit and she lives her life so authentically to who she is. I love how she loves her friends and has the best adventures and memories in this life! She values life’s experiences to the fullest. Kylie is such a beautiful soul who is so generous with her energy and wants everyone to be happy. She is just so real.”
