When you become a parent, you learn fast that the best-laid plans can — and will — be dashed by unexpected circumstances with the kiddos. It’s a scenario that every mom knows about all too well… yes, even Kim Kardashian.

It turns out that Kardashian’s eldest daughter with husband Kanye West, six-year-old North, was laid low by the stomach flu on Christmas Eve. The brood attended the family’s over-the-top annual bash that night, but poor North was feeling downright lousy.

“My poor baby North wasn’t feeling good on a Christmas Eve, she had the stomach flu,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians mom of four captioned a series of pics from the party, which she posted on Instagram on December 26. “You can see she wasn’t feeling well, but she wanted to go to go to the party so badly.”

In the pics, North is wearing a twinkling pastel pink suit, white nail polish, a pair of buns in her hair… and not the most exuberant look. Indeed, the little one looks like she’s trying to fake it ’till she makes it.

Although such illnesses are known to sweep through families unrelentingly — ask any mom, especially around this time of year! — it seems like the other West kids were spared. Kardashian reported that four-year-old Saint, nearly two-year-old Chicago, and seven-month-old Psalm were in the party mood. “Saint was ready to rock and was so excited to party. Chicago wanted to see an elf but was afraid of Santa and Psalm is a perfect angel baby,” Kardashian wrote on Insta.

Despite her bummer holiday illness, North sure cleaned up this Christmas in the gift department. Her famous parents gave her an authentic Michael Jackson jacket, for which they paid more than $65,000. “North is a really big Michael Jackson fan and we knew she would love this,” Kardashian told fans in another post. “We won this on an auction for Northie for Christmas.”

Here’s hoping the rest of the West kids (and their parents) stay healthy — and that North feels better soon.
