Kim Kardashian returns to Paris with extra security

On Keeping Up Wth the Kardashians, Kim Kardashian traveled to Paris for the first time since being robbed at gunpoint in 2016.

It was clear that Kardashian was nervous about returning to the scene of the crime. “I’m going really cautiously, and I think going for such a short period of time definitely helps me mentally, but I guess you never know what could happen,” she said. But it was also clearly important to both her and husband Kanye West to make the trip to support one of West’s best friends, fashion designer Virgil Abloh, at his first Louis Vuitton fashion show as men’s artistic director. In fact, it was West’s idea for Kardashian to return to Paris.

“I don’t want to put any pressure on you to go to Paris,” West told Kardashian. “I know that was really hard the last time you were in Paris. So I just think for the culture, for Kim K to show up to the first black designer at Louis Vuitton’s show, who was the best man at my wedding, just the world would … be surprised to see you there and love to see you there.”

West was on tour and not with Kardashian during Paris Fashion Week two years earlier, when the incident occurred. But this time the rapper was by his wife’s side, along with much more security, as they walked into the show. Still, Kardashian admitted, “Being here in Paris, honestly, it’s, like, really nerve-wracking. But I’m not trying to focus on anything negative.”

The trip went smoothly, with no security issues or scares and, seemed to have provided Kim with a little more comfort. She told sisters Khloé and Kourtney, “I don’t think I’ll ever really forget my experiences in Paris — the good or the bad — and I think that’s OK. Like, it all, you know, has made me who I am, and … I feel like I could go back and I could spend more time and feel safe and comfortable.”
