When you're one of the most famous people on the planet, people are going to say that you've done some pretty outrageous things. For Kim Kardashian, that's especially true. Although she did not in fact give her six-year-old daughter North the shirt President John F. Kennedy was wearing when he was assassinated, a doctor social media post suggested that she had.

The post made it look as though Kardashian had posted a photo of the shirt to her Instagram story as part of her daughter's Christmas haul.

Why North West Was Photoshopped Into The Family Christmas Card

After an article was written up suggesting that the fake post was, in fact, real, Kardashian quickly took to Twitter to clarify. "WOW this is obviously fake! @Refinery29 I did not get JFK’s shirt," Kardashian wrote in the post. "That is a sick joke that someone tweeted as a fake ig story that I never posted."

The "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star was responding to a Buzzfeed journalist who had posted a screen capture of the story that had been written.

After the post went viral, the article was updated with the following disclaimer: "This story has been updated from the original version. Earlier, it included a falsified Instagram image, which has been removed."

While Kardashian and Kanye West did not gift their daughter anything from JFK, the gifts did get pretty extravagant. They included two pieces from Michael Jackson's closet, including a custom velvet jacket that Jackson wore to Elizabeth Taylor's 65th birthday party which was designed by Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush.

North was also gifted the white fedora that the deceased pop star wore in the "Smooth Criminal" video. The gifts were both purchased at auction with winning bids of $65,625 and $56,250 respectively.

The gifts generated some controversy online for the sheer amount they spent on the Christmas gift. It was the over-the-top extravagance of these gifts that ultimately led someone to make the JFK joke. The idea was to push things just a little bit farther than they'd already been pushed.

North is apparently a pretty huge Michael Jackson fan, so the gifts make sense in that regard. Unfortunately, most people do not have nearly that kind of money to spend on Christmas gifts.

Outraged fans were simply pointing out that Kardashian could have used the money to help make the world a better place instead of spoiling her daughter with expensive presents. While Kardashian does plenty of work with charity, it's clear that some believe she could and should be doing more.
