When it comes to the Kardashian-Jenner family's powerhouse fame, nobody is more surprised than Kim Kardashian!

The SKIMS founder, 43, admitted just how shocked she was that her family had become such public figures while reminiscing about their early beginnings on Thursday's season 4 finale of The Kardashians.

The topic came up as the family was celebrating Scott Disick's 40th birthday and Kris Jenner gave a toast, recalling how she had known him for "most of [his] adult life."

"You were literally here episode one, season 1," Kris, 68, told Scott, referencing their original reality series Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

In response, Scott, 40, joked, "I was like, 'This show's going nowhere!'"

Later, Kim gave a toast to Scott in which she mentioned how she had known him for 19 years. Kim pointed out how Scott — who shares kids, Mason, 14, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 8, with her sister Kourtney Kardashian Barker — has "supported me through thick and thin" and was with her "through every phase."

"[Remember] when you were on the cover of Dog Fancy?" Scott joked, to which Kim's family quickly clarified it was K9 Magazine.

"Anything for a cover!" Kim responded, joking that she didn't even like dogs.

When Scott pointed out how far she has come and how she's now a lawyer and Vogue cover model, Kim whispered to the group, "Guys, we scammed the system. We did it! Whatever it is, we figured it out and did it! We put in some hard work."

Kim added later in a confessional interview: "Scott’s my motivator. He’ll always say, 'God, can you believe you did it?' And I’m like, 'I can't, this is crazy.' ... We aren’t supposed to be here, like how did we get in this cool party? We weren’t the cool kids, how did we do it?"

Kim and her family were launched into fame when Keeping Up with the Kardashians premiered on E! in October 2007. After nearly 14 years and 20 seasons, the show came to an end on June 10, 2021.

Before The Kardashians hit Hulu, the family appeared on several spinoffs of Keeping Up, including Kourtney & Khloé Take Miami/Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, Kourtney & Kim Take New York, Khloé & Lamar, Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons, I Am Cait, Dash Dolls, Rob & Chyna and Life of Kylie.

Despite being shocked that her family's reality show took off, Kim previously admitted that fame was something she was aspiring to achieve.

“Money was always the goal but I was obsessed with fame, like, embarrassingly obsessed,” she said in an interview for the September 2019 cover of Vogue Arabia. “I do agree that fame can be addictive. But now, my focus has shifted.”

“Even in my darkest of times I don’t regret putting myself out there for the world to see,” she said. “People have shared with me over the years how much it has helped them to feel less alone when dealing with their own adversity.”

The star added, “I love having a voice and I appreciate the platform that I have been given, even though I do wish I could have more privacy at times.”

In April 2023, Kim — who passed the baby bar exam in December 2021 — said she'd be fine with stepping away from reality television for good to pursue her career in law and criminal justice reform.

"I would be just as happy being an attorney full time," she said while speaking at the TIME100 Summit.
