After Maria Grazia Chiuri took her post-show bow inside the Brooklyn Museum’s Beaux-Arts Court, Claire Fontaine’s gestural neon sculptures began to flicker. There was more feminist art in store for the evening.

The room’s lights dimmed as the runway show seating transformed into afterparty lounge spaces. While many of Dior’s starriest VIP guests made a swift exit, others stuck around for an extra round of photo opps. Haerin of K-pop group NewJeans gamely posed with fans and recorded a selfie video before departing the museum.

“She’s a K-pop star,” offered one onlooker to his companion, curious about the commotion. “I figured,” she said, phone raised and already documenting the moment.

A sequestered VIP area in one of the museum’s corridors provided a private space for Anya Taylor-Joy, Rosamund Pike and Alexandra Shipp to unwind. In the main room of the Beaux-Arts Court, Mickalene Thomas caught up with museum director Anne Pasternak, “The New Look” director Todd Kessler was toasting the evening with a glass of Champagne, and Heather Kemesky, Cass Bird, Jenna Lyons and JD Samson of Le Tigre hung out by the DJ booth.

The party hit its crescendo as Kim Gordon, formerly of Sonic Youth, appeared onstage. One of Fontaine’s sculptures — which reference female anatomy — hung directly overhead.

“Can you turn the lights down a little bit?” said Gordon, peering out at the crowd as she launched into “The Candy House,” off her recent album.

Grazia, an enthusiastic supporter of female artists, was vibing to the set from atop one of the seating areas with Brigitte Lacombe. The siren song of a feminist rock icon proved too strong to resist, as they were soon joined by Pike, donning a pair of dark sunglasses as she stepped up to the elevated platform to watch Gordon whip around the stage.
