Mar. 27—Eastern Oklahoma State College announced the college will host bestselling author David Grann for a free to the public presentation next week.

Grann is the author of "Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI."

Described in the New York Times as a "riveting" work that will "sear your soul," it was a finalist for the National Book Award and a winner of the Edgar Allen Poe Award for best true crime book. It was a #1 New York Times bestseller and named one of the best books of the year by the Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Weekly, Time, and other publications. Amazon selected it as the single best book of the year.

The book was adapted into a major motion picture directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, and Jesse Plemons.

Other books by Gann include "The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder," "The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon," and "The White Darkness."

The free to the public event will be held April 3 on EOSC's Wilburton campus.

The event will kick off at 3 p.m. April 3 with "Violence against Indigenous Women" presented by the Choctaw Nation. This event will be held at the Johnnie Wray Theatre in Pratt Hall.

Grann is scheduled to speak at 6:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Hall Auditorium with a book signing to follow.

The EOSC Bookstore is currently selling copies of "Killers of the Flower Moon." Books will also be available to purchase on site prior to the event.
