After a limited theatrical release, “The Killer” made its streaming debut on Netflix on Nov. 10, quickly becoming the top film on the platform. The action thriller is based on a French graphic novel series of the same name and stars Michael Fassbender in the eponymous role of the killer, a professional assassin who misses his mark and accidentally kills the wrong target, becoming a target himself.

David Fincher, a prolific filmmaker known for his work on psychological thrillers, including “Seven” and “Fight Club,” directs the film. Work on the project began as far back as 2007, when the news broke that Fincher would be developing a film adaption of the comic book series with Paramount Pictures distributing. Over a decade later, it was reported that Netflix had picked it up as part of a larger deal with the filmmaker.

“The Killer” has received a predominantly positive reception among critics, but slightly more lukewarm reviews among audiences. It was the #1 most-streamed film in the U.S. the weekend of Nov. 10-11 on Whip Media’s Movie Ranker, which is driven by viewership data from TV Time, a consumer app with over 28 million registered global users.

Falling slightly from its No. 1 spot last week, Universal Pictures’ “Five Nights at Freddy’s” comes in at No. 2 on this weekend’s list, continuing to drive streams on Peacock. While it has been criticized as a horror movie for not delivering on scares, the film has maintained its strong performance at the box office despite its simultaneous streaming release on Peacock.

Netflix’s romantic comedy “No Hard Feelings” has maintained its No. 3 spot, with fans sharing praise for Jennifer Lawrence’s performance.

Rising in the Streaming Movie Ranker at No. 4 was “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” which has maintained its position on Netflix’s Top 10 since its debut on the platform.

While slipping one placement, Hulu’s “Quiz Lady” largely stayed steady at No. 5 on this week’s ranker. The comedy has received praise for the chemistry between its two leads, stars Sandra Oh and Awkwafina.

On the other hand, 20th Century Studios’ “A Haunting in Venice” had a more significant decline from its placement last week, falling from No. 2 to No. 6 on the ranker this week.

Both “Elemental” and “The Nun II” maintained their No. 7 and No. 8 positions, respectively.

At the same time, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” and “Totally Killer” resurfaced on this week’s ranker after exiting the Top 10 weeks prior, still drawing viewers well after each film’s initial streaming release.
