Killed-off Kevin Can Wait actress Erinn Hayes says she'd kill to be on Kevin Can F— Himself

While she is booked and busy with roles on Netflix shows like Medical Police and Huge in France, actress Erinn Hayes would happily make time to star on AMC’s Kevin Can F— Himself.

The title of the upcoming show, which plans to use a mix of the single-camera and multi-camera formats to tell a story deconstructing the sitcom wife trope, is clearly a reference to CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait, which notoriously killed off Hayes’ wife character to make more room for a King of Queens reunion between fellow leads Kevin James and Leah Remini.

Asked about Kevin Can F— Himself in a conversation with Vulture, Hayes said she’s read that script and has reached out. “It’s so good, and I’d kill to be in it,” she said. “The angle [creator Valerie Armstrong] takes on telling this particular story has nothing to do with me. It has nothing to do with Kevin James. It’s just exploring the trope [of the wife supporting the husband].”

Hayes said she does worry that her being cast on the show would become a distraction, with folks saying “Oh, it’s Erinn Hayes, who was killed off Kevin Can Wait,” but adds that “the part they’ve written is so full and so interesting. They just did a great job, and I’m excited to see how the show turns out whether or not I ever get a chance to read for it or be a part of it in any way.”

Kevin Can F— Himself is executive produced by Rashida Jones and her writing partner Will McCormack, and will be run by Craig DiGregorio (Kevin (Probably) Saves the World).

EW has reached out to AMC for comment on Hayes being considered for the series.
