Kid Rock Teases Run for U.S. Senate

By Sheldon Pearce, Michelle Kim.

In February, Kid Rock’s name was brought up at a Michigan Republican Party convention as a potential candidate for the state’s Senate race. Today, the musician has teased his candidacy, sharing a link to a website that is selling merchandise with the slogan “Kid Rock for U.S. Senate.” “I have had a ton of emails and texts asking me if this website is real…” he wrote. “The answer is an absolute YES.” The merchandise is being sold on his official online store, which is hosted by Warner Bros. Records. Kid Rock has also teased that a “major announcement” would be coming in the “near future.” Pitchfork has reached out to Kid Rock’s representatives for more information.

Michigan Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow is up for re-election next year. Kid Rock backed Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and performed at last year’s Republican National Convention. He currently sells offensive Trump-themed merch.
