Celebrity, needless vulgarity, gun violence, and a hefty dash of misogyny, all topped with glittering tinsel-if one news story could hit at the casually cruel and essentially moronic spirit of 2018, it’s the tale of Kid Rock, Joy Behar, the Waffle House hero, and the Christmas parade. Fake Senate hopeful Kid Rock appeared on Fox & Friends live from Nashville on Friday, just a day before he was scheduled to appear as Grand Marshall at that city’s Christmas parade.

"God forbid you say something a little bit wrong, you’re racist, homophobic, Islamophobic," began Kid Rock, before proceeding to say something a lot wrong. "People need to calm down, get a little less politically correct, and I’d say love everybody, except-I’d say screw that Joy Behar bitch."

In the wake of the name calling, both Nashville Mayor David Briley and Metro Councilman Freddie O’Connell declared that they would not appear at the parade if Kid Rock did. Later that day, parade organizers announced that Kid Rock was out and that James Shaw, Jr., who saved lives in April when he tackled a mass shooter at a Nashville-area Waffle House, would replace him as Grand Marshall.

In response to the controversy, Kid Rock released the most Kid Rockian non-apology possible, justifying his use of a misogynistic slur by explaining that Behar hurt his feelings last year:

Behar has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, and when myself, Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent visited the White House last year, Behar called it ‘the saddest day in in the history of the White House since the British burned it to the ground in 1814.’ Today I said ‘Screw that Joy Behar b-h.’ Mess with the bull, you get the horns. End of story. I apologized for cursing on live TV, I will not for my sentiment nor do I expect an apology from her or anyone else who has choice words for me or doesn’t like me. God Bless America.

Behar, meanwhile, seemed to take it all in stride.
