Khloe Kardashian Accused Of Wearing Fur During Australian Wildfires, But She Denies It

Khloe Kardashian attempted to use her social media clout for good by promoting awareness for the devastating Australian wildfires, but instead got herself caught up in an animal rights controversy.

The reality TV star posted an image on her Story of a firefights holding to koala bears while the blaze burned all around them. "Pray for Australia," it read. She said the "world needs to wake up" after noting that 500 million animals have been killed by the fires so far.

One user, who describes herself as a "Animal Liberation Activist," saw the post and took Kardashian to task. She shared a side-by-side screenshot of her Instagram Story plea for Australia and her wearing what is purportedly a fur coat for Halloween.

"'Oh my God, 500 million animals have died!' Which is what, a few less than for your fur coats and accessories, @khloekardashian? So sad when animals die during fire, much better when they’re anally and vaginally electrocuted and they’re skin is ripped off their bodies (sometimes even when their conscious!) for nothing other than your vanity!" the user wrote.

Kardashian saw the post and took to the comments to defend herself.

"I am wearing a Halloween costume. It's not real fur. But keep spreading your vile hate instead of focusing on real issues," she said in her since-deleted comment.

"Why must people assume and attack so quickly? You have some clear frustrations darling and they are completely misdirected. My advice to you would be, don't attack people in general," she continued. "But if you choose to waste your energy on attacking a complete stranger then at least know all of your information prior. Happy 2020."

"I can’t believe she would lie about it, attempted to insult and belittle you and then Delete the post. It’s the internet though so that has been documented," one user replied about Kardashian.

"@khloekardashian shame on you. You have the money and platform to promote compassion and choose faux fur. Yet you promote real fur and lie about it. Real fur is unnecessary animal abuse. Its 2020. Do better," another said.

Kardashian was part of a PETA campaign back in 2008 and said at the time that she does not wear fur.

"We all need to practice what we preach," Kardashian said. "I will still continue to NOT wear fur, but I will no longer support PETA. Bullying and harassment is NEVER a solution, and I won't be a part of any organization that thinks otherwise."
