Khalid's El Paso benefit over the weekend, held in support of the victims of the August shooting that killed 22 people, saw the generosity of multiple Texas artists on full display as the nation continues its loop-like discourse on gun safety.
For his performance, Khalid was introduced by Democratic leader Beto O'Rourke, who's now selling "This Is Fucked Up" t-shirts supporting March For Our Lives and Moms Demand Action. Tickets for the benefit, proceeds from which will support the El Paso Shooting Victims Fund and El Paso Community Foundation, sold out within hours of the show being announced.
Another mass shooting hit Texas in recent days with Governor Greg Abbott later defending the newly loosened gun laws in the state, laws which notably went into effect within hours of the latest act of high-casualty gun violence.
"Yesterday Greg Abbott put out some happy words on what we need to do to make sure we are safer, but the laws he signed actually make our families in Texas less safe," Democratic presidential candidate Julián Castro accurately said of Abbott, per NBC News.
