Kevin Turen, Producer of “Euphoria” and “The Idol”, Dead at 44

Turen's father said, "This world is going to be less without him"

Kevin Turen, best known as the producer of Euphoria and The Idol, has died at the age of 44.

“Kevin was so incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him," his father Edward said in a Sunday night statement confirming his death, per Deadline. A cause of death is yet to be revealed.

Turen's close friend Jay Penske meanwhile said, "Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends," in statement per The Hollywood Reporter.

Penske — who is also CEO of the Penske Media Corporation — continued, "He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world."

"Our collective heart breaks for them," the statement concluded, "and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars today.”

Per Deadline, Turen died suddenly this weekend. He is survived by his wife, Evelina, and his two sons, Jack and James.

Cassian Elwes — producer of Dallas Buyers Club — paid tribute to Turen on X, formerly known as Twitter. "A good friend and true indie film maker died tonight too young. I’m so sad. Hold your love[d] ones close. Life is precious and fleeting," he wrote.

Turen — who was born in New York City in 1979 and studied at Columbia University — co-founded Little Lamb Productions with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson and his wife Ashley in 2018. Together he and Levinson also produced the 2020 film Pieces of a Woman, which starred Vanessa Kirby and Shia LeBeouf. His other work included Pearl X, The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent and the upcoming series Gossamer.

His death comes three months after the passing of Euphoria actor Angus Cloud. Cloud was just 35 when he died at his family’s home in Oakland, California on Jul. 31 due to an accidental drug overdose.

"It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today,” the actor's family said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE at the time. “As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."

A spokesperson for PMC did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
