Kevin Turen, ‘Euphoria’ and ‘The Idol’ Producer, Cause of Death Revealed as Cardiac Event
Euphoria and X producer Kevin Turen died in November from cardiac dysfunction and heart disease, according to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office.
The producer’s cause of death was officially cited as acute cardiac dysfunction and hypertrophic heart disease, with the medical examiner also reporting coronary artery atherosclerosis as a significant contributing factor. The manner of death was determined to be of natural causes.

According to TMZ, which was first to report Turen’s cause of death, the producer experienced a medical emergency while driving on a California freeway Nov. 12 before being taken to the hospital, where he died. Edward Turen told The Los Angeles Times that Kevin had been driving back from a tennis tournament with his 10-year-old son in the car.
“Jack looked over and his dad had fainted, he thought, at the wheel,” Edward told the L.A. Times. “He had the presence of mind to undo his seat belt, to get on the floor with his left hand [controlling] the brake and the accelerator, his right hand the steering wheel.”
Turen, co-founded Little Lamb Productions in 2018 with Sam and Ashley Levinson, producing both the Emmy-winning Euphoria and The Idol. He was also a frequent collaborator, with Ti West on his acclaimed horror films X and Pearl, and the upcoming MaXXXine.
He also produced the Zendaya and John David Washington-led Malcolm and Marie, John Boyega’s Breaking and the Tom Corsican-directed The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent starring Nicolas Cage.
A spokesperson at Penske Media confirmed Turen’s death to The Hollywood Reporter last month. “Despite his many achievements in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends,” said Jay Penske, CEO of PMC and a close friend of Turen, in a statement. “He was so proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were resolved that their children grow up with great values and ensured they make a difference in the broader world. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel such a profound sense of loss. We will miss Kevin so much, and this town lost one of its brightest rising stars.”
