Kevin Spacey has hit back at an upcoming docuseries investigating the sexual assault allegations against him, claiming producers of not providing him adequate time to respond to the accusations.

The two-part Spacey Unmasked — which “investigates Spacey’s conduct and talks to multiple men unconnected to [the actor’s 2023 trial] about their experiences” — is scheduled to air next week on the U.K.’s Channel 4.

Before the docuseries aired, however, Spacey turned to social media to complain that he has “repeatedly requested that [Channel 4] afford me more than 7 days to respond to allegations made against me dating back 48 years and provide me with sufficient details to investigate these matters.”

He continued, “Channel 4 has refused on the basis that they feel that asking for a response in 7 days to new, anonymized and non-specific allegations is a ‘fair opportunity’ for me to refute any allegations made against me.”

Channel 4 responded to Spacey’s comments in a statement to Variety, “Spacey Unmasked will broadcast on 6th and 7th May. Kevin Spacey has been given sufficient opportunity to respond.”

Spacey, instead, has promised he will respond to the allegations against him on his own Twitter/X account.

“I will not sit back and be attacked by a dying network’s one-sided ‘documentary’ about me in their desperate attempt for ratings. There’s a proper channel to handle allegations against me and it’s not Channel 4,” Spacey wrote Thursday.

“Each time I have been given the time and a proper forum to defend myself, the allegations have failed under scrutiny and I have been exonerated.”

Following its U.K. broadcast, Spacey Unmasked has been picked up to stream in the U.S. on the Warner Bros.-owned MAX, prompting Spacey to issue a statement through his spokesperson last week, “I’m honored to be starring in my first film with Warner Brothers in many years. I hope the Academy takes note of some of the great acting by the lesser known cast.”
