Kevin Spacey Cut From ‘Carol Burnett Show’ 50th Anniversary Special

In the wake of the mounting sexual assault and harassment allegations against Kevin Spacey, CBS is severing ties with him as well. The actor is being cut out of the upcoming 50th anniversary special of “The Carol Burnett Show,” a representative for the network confirmed to Variety.

Spacey took part in the taping of the special back in October in Los Angeles. In the special, which will air on December 3, he performed a musical number with Carol Burnett, Kristin Chenoweth, and Bernadette Peters. A source close to the production tells Variety no decision has been made on the status of the number itself, but confirmed that Spacey would not be featured in the final telecast.

During the taping, which Variety attended, he exhibited great excitement at being a part of the evening and entertained the audience in between acts by doing impressions and by jumping into the famous dentist chair from Tim Conway and Harvey Korman’s classic sketch.

CBS’ decision represents just the latest in an ever-growing list of consequences for the actor. Netflix and Media Rights Capital, which produce his series “House of Cards,” announced that he was suspended from the show, and that it would not be moving forward with any version that includes him. Producers are said to be considering killing off his character so the Emmy-nominated series can continue without him. Netflix also announced that it would cancel the Gore Vidal biopic, “Gore,” which was set to star the two-time Oscar-winning actor. And Sony Pictures is pulling his film, “All the Money in the World,” from AFI Fest, although it will still premiere as scheduled on December 22 in wide release.

Scotland Yard has opened an investigation into him in response to an allegation that he sexually assaulted a male actor in London. He has also been dropped by his agency, CAA, and his publicist, Staci Wolfe.
