Kevin Smith will appear on stage at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Jan. 26, 2024.

Comedy: During the late 1990s and early 2000s, film director Kevin Smith's movies such as "Clerks," "Mallrats," "Chasing Amy" and "Dogma" became popular with Gen X and millennials. The cult-classic comedies also made Smith, who portrayed the character Silent Bob, a renowned figure in the film industry. He has also branched out into podcasting, stand-up comedy and writing comic books.

On Friday, he will appear on stage at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa in Rancho Mirage. Those going to the event can expect him to talk about being Kevin Smith and other funny anecdotes. “I make more money standing on stage talking about being Kevin Smith than I do as a director,” Smith said during a recent interview.

While writing “Clerks” Smith used the character of Dante as a vehicle for himself. The 2006 sequel featured a storyline where Dante gets married, has a child and accepts more grown-up responsibilities. Before releasing "Clerks III" in 2022, Smith said it would be the final film of the series. It's also a departure from the previous films. Smith not only based the film on his own brush with death as a result of a heart attack in 2018, but poured more of himself into Randall.
