Kevin Nealon is honoring Dana Carvey's late son.

The Saturday Night Live alum, 70, posted a message to Instagram for his former co-star and longtime friend to Instagram, honoring Carvey and his family as they mourn Dex Carvey.

"I spent the last week not commenting on this tragedy because I didn't want it to be true," Nealon began his message.

"Our souls were crushed when we heard of the unimaginable loss of the sweet and brilliant Dex Carvey," he continued.

Calling the 32-year-old "extremely talented," "kind" and "loving, Nealon recalled watching Dex open for Dana. "He was funny. He was unforgettable. He was also kind to our son, Gable, off stage."

"I even remember the day Dex was born. I was so thrilled for Dana and Paula. I watched him grow and mature over his 32 years and Dana and Paula became my parenting role models."

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy,” the post began.

The parents said their beloved son died from “an accidental drug overdose."

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things--music, art, film making, comedy--and pursued all of them passionately,” they said. “It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life.”

“And when you were with him, you loved life too," their statement continued. "He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person. His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. We will miss him forever.”

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Dex died at his home.

Dex followed Carvey into comedy and opened for his father's 2016 Netflix special Straight White Male. He also starred in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser and The Funster, a 2013 series featuring his father.

Carvey and Zwagerman, who wed in 1983, are also parents to son Thomas Carvey, 30.
