Kevin Morris Celebrates His Second Book at Chateau Marmont

“There is no such thing as writing on the side,” according to Kevin Morris, a man who certainly has his hands full with his day job as a partner at Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner and Gellman. But he somehow found the time to publish his second work of fiction, the new novel “All Joe Knight” (Grove Press), which he celebrated Wednesday in an intimate gathering at the Chateau Marmont.

With industry dignitaries like Illumination founder Chris Meledandri in attendance, Morris read chapters from the book, the tale of a middle-aged man facing a federal investigation that ties into his upbringing as a basketball star in Philadelphia. “Knight” is a follow-up to “White Man’s Problems,” a well received short-story collection he published in 2014.

Morris says he’s got more fiction ideas inside him just waiting to be put on paper, but don’t look for him to quit his main gig anytime soon. That should come as some relief to the wide range of clients at Morris Yorn including Scarlett Johansson, Ellen DeGeneres, and “South Park” creative duo Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

As much time as moonlighting as a fiction writer takes, Morris’ partner Kevin Yorn says the clientele are understanding. “Celebrity artists respect him because Kevin is an artist too,” he said.
