Responding To His Car Crash

Kevin Hart was involved in a serious car crash in September that required major back surgery for the Jumanji star. Hart has also required the help of in-home medical professionals and at least four months of physical therapy to return to his former mobility.

On October 30th, Hart posted a video to his Instagram, explaining how the crash had changed his way of thinking.

"When God talks, you got to listen. In this case, I honestly feel like God told me to sit down. You know, you’re moving too fast, you’re doing too much sometimes you can’t see the things you’re meant to see."

Returning To The Public Eye

Hart made his first public appearance since there accident at the People's Choice Awards, when he was awarded the trophy for Comedy Act of 2019. After Robert Downey Jr. presented him with the award, Hart gave an emotional speech thanking everyone in his corner.

"First and foremost, I thank God because I definitely don’t have to be here.

Being that I am, it makes me appreciate life even more. It makes me appreciate the things that really matter. Family. I want to thank my wife and my kids, who really stepped up to the plate for me.

He also made sure to thank his fans, saying "You have no idea the effect that you have on us as entertainers. Your energy, your support. It means the world and I truly want to thank you guys for being there for me in my difficult time."

Opening Up On His Show

Hart opened up further on the latest episode of his Sirius Radio show, Laugh Out Loud, calling the ordeal "life-altering."

"For me, I’m a different version of myself. This ain’t got nothing to do about going to church… It’s not spiritual, spiritual is the wrong word. You’re more present. More aware… It’s all a joke until you get smacked with that real-life reality."

Hart has clearly walked away from this accident a changed man, and he's not going to waste the opportunity that he's been given with his survival.

The Reality Of HIs Injuries

Hart also got real about the injuries that he sustained in the crash and how difficult it's been to come back from them.

"I could not f--king move. I could not wipe my a--…I literally I couldn’t do none of that. it makes you realize… you really are helpless. There was nothing I could do."

This kind of close call will cause anyone to reassess their lives, and Hart is a thankful man. He'll be back onscreen at Christmas for Jumanji: The Next Level, and he'll surely be signing on to new projects as soon as he's back to full capacity.
