A Terrible Accident

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart was involved in a terrible car accident on September 1 that left the Jumanji star requiring major back surgery and months of physical therapy.

Hart posted an emotional video on Instagram expressing his gratitude to God over his survival and how the accident has changed his perspective.

"No matter how much you think you're in control, you're not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over, man.

When God talks, you gotta listen. I swear life is funny because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the things that you needed most.

I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down. When you moving too fast and doing too much, you can't see the things that you're meant to see. But after my accident, I see things differently."

His First TV Appearance

In his first public appearance since the accident, Hart took the stage at the People's Choice Awards to accept the trophy for Best Comedy Act of 2019. Robert Downey Jr. introduced him and announced his win, and Hart took a moment to thank a number of people in the wake of his accident and his continued recovery.

"First and foremost, I thank God, because I definitely don't have to be here. Being that I am, that makes me appreciate life even more. It makes me appreciate the things that really matter. Family. I want to thank my wife, my kids. They really stepped up to the plate for me."

An Emotional Speech

He continued, thanking people for their continued support and reiterating his assurance that he doesn't take stuff like this for granted anymore.

"I also want to take the time to thank the People's Choice Awards, just for this. This is amazing. But more importantly, the people, man. You have no idea the effect that you have on us as entertainers. Your energy, your support, it means the world and I truly want to thank you guys for being there for me in my difficult time. This is special. They all are. I do not take them for granted. Thank you so much. God bless everyone in this room. Peace."

Support From Fans

Hart's speech earned a huge standing ovation and thunderous applause at the show, proving that fans are there right along side him as he recovers. Additionally, fans on Twitter sent out their support as well.

While Hart still has a ton of work to do as he recovers, it's safe to say that his career will be just fine after the hiatus.

You can see Hart next in Jumanji: The Next Level, which hits theaters on December 13.
