After navigating the seas as demigod Maui in this November’s animated Disney saga Moana, busting out of prison to indulge in more auto-insanity in next April’s Fast 8, and then taking to the beach as the leader of a California lifeguard squad in next May’s Baywatch, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will take to the jungle in Jumanji. And while we know that the forthcoming project will be not a reboot but, in fact, a sequel to 1995’s popular Robin Williams-headlined hit, we’ve yet to get any look at just how the star and his castmates will be following in their predecessor’s footsteps — until now.

In a new Instagram post from Kevin Hart (above), who’ll be re-teaming with his Central Intelligence co-star for this fantastical outing, we’ve received our first look at the heroes of the new Jumanji, all of whom seem ready to battle the fearsome creatures lurking in the jungle that, we presume, they’ve reached via the magical board game that gives the film its title. This cast photo comes from the first day of shooting, according to Hart, who writes:

“Day 1 of shooting “Jumanji” is officially in the can. We had a amazing first day. The chemistry & energy of our cast & crew was beyond amazing!!!! This movie is going to be dope as hell….Can’t wait to get back to work tomorrow @therock@karengillanofficial & jack black!!!#Jumanji

There are no bombshells provided by this snapshot, which appears to confirm that Johnson will be the rugged hero, Hart will be the goofy clown, Jack Black will be the absurd intellectual, and Karen Gillan will be the sexy adventuress. Their foes are nowhere to be seen in this first peek, but then, that’s not overly surprising, since the original Jumanji was one of the first films to use extensive CGI effects for its rampaging creatures — and no doubt this follow-up will be doing likewise.

Jumanji barrels into theaters on July 28, 2017, making it the third film premiering next summer to star Johnson (after April 14’s Fast 8 and May 19’s Baywatch).
