Kevin Federline claims $20K isn't enough, wants more child support from Britney Spears

Is this 2006 all over again? Britney Spears and Kevin Federline are back sharing headlines, this time over child support. According to TMZ, Federline, 39, claims to be in a financial bind.

On Friday, Federline reportedly called Spears’s father, Jamie, about increasing his child support payments because the $20,000 a month he receives isn’t enough. Federline says he can’t adequately care for the two sons he shares with Spears — Preston, 12, and Jayden, 11 — at her level. The report comes months after he called co-parenting with Spears “easy.”

TMZ says that when pressed by Jamie Spears about where the $20,000 is going each month, former backup dancer Federline purportedly avoided the question. Jamie also spoke with Federline’s attorney, who apparently “repeatedly” brought up Britney’s recent financial successes. It’s unclear how much Spears’s ex-husband wants. Yahoo has reached out to Federline’s attorney for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

Spears is making more money now than when they settled their divorce 10 years ago. In January, the “Toxic” singer signed a new Las Vegas residency deal for 2019. The Blast reports she banks $475,000 a show and has made $15 million a year from the gig, which began in December 2013. The outlet reported in February that Federline reached out about increasing his child support.

Spears has yet to comment on the Federline drama, but she’s not letting it get her down. She’s been posting workout videos to Instagram like it’s just a regular day. (Perhaps just with some extra motivation to work off any frustrated energy.)

She also shared a photo all dolled up.

Spears, 36, filed for divorce from Federline in 2006, after just over two years of marriage. Last summer, Federline admitted he and the singer had gotten better about co-parenting over the years.

“You fall into your routine, and [co-parenting] is really easy now. It wasn’t always easy, but it’s a lot easier now,” he told Bravo.

Federline has six children with three women: two sons with Spears, two daughters with current wife Victoria Prince, and a son and daughter with former fiancée Shar Jackson.

Spears — who recently celebrated her first anniversary with boyfriend Sam Asghari — gushed to People recently about how much she loves being a mom.

“My kids come first, always,” she said. “There is nothing more rewarding than being a mom and watching my sons grow into young men. … I am so lucky that I get to experience all of life’s adventures with them.”
