During an appearance on Netflix’s My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman, Kevin Durant talked about how he views marijuana and compared it to having a “glass of wine.”

The Brooklyn Nets star, who informed Letterman that he was high during the interview, said that weed “clears the distractions out of your brain a little bit.” He continued, “It settles you down.”

Also in the clip which you can watch up top via YouTube, Durant talked about investing in cannabis tech platform Weedmaps via his Thirty Five Ventures.

“We partner with them on content and trying to figure out ways to change the narrative around athletes and marijuana,” Durant told Letterman of his involvement with the company. He went on say that there will “be dispensaries everywhere” in New York City where people will be able to legally purchase marijuana in the next few years. He then brought up the unfairness of people still being locked up around the country for weed.

“And it’s even crazier that you got people in jail for 20 years for maybe selling a pound,” he said.

It’s not the first time that Durant has shared his views about cannabis, and specifically the stigmas surrounding athletes using marijuana.

“In the sports world, it was kind of an undercover thing, that players used cannabis, and used it while they were actively playing. And I always thought that was an interesting thing, even as I started to come into the league. Now you hear the conversation more and more around the league about it [cannabis],” Durant previously said, per Forbes.

You’ll be able to watch the forthcoming episode featuring Durant on Netflix later this week on Friday, May 20. Season 4 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman will also feature interviews with Billie Eilish, Ryan Reynolds, Will Smith, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Cardi B.
