Kevin Costner Walked the Cannes Red Carpet With Five of His Children
The Cannes premiere of Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga was a family affair, as the star—who also wrote and directed the film—walked the red carpet with five of his seven children. Costner was joined at the famed film festival (where his movie screened out of competition) by his daughters Annie, Lily, and Grace, and his sons Cayden and Hayes—the latter of whom also appears in the movie. The Costner men looked dapper on the red carpet in classic black tuxedos, while the ladies opted for gowns in tones of blue and green.
Annie and Lily, along with their brother Joe, who was not present at the premiere, are Costner's children by his first wife Cindy Silva. Costner and Silva were married in 1978, and later divorced in 1994. Meanwhile, Cayden, Hayes, and Grace are shared by Costner and his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner; the couple divorced in 2023 after 18 years of marriage. Costner also has a son, Liam, with his former girlfriend Bridget Rooney—she went on to marry billionaire Bill Koch.
The show of support was particularly notable as Costner famously mortgaged his Santa Barbara estate in order to help finance the four-film saga's $100 million+ budget. At a press conference at Cannes, Costner said that he wanted to leave his real estate properties to his children but was willing to “risk those homes to make my movies… my children will have to live their own lives.”
Part one of the Horizon franchise (the second part is set to debut later this summer, a few weeks after the first hits theaters) received an eleven minute standing ovation at the film festival, according to Deadline. After the debut, Costner emotionally told the audience, "I made this [movie]… it’s not mine anymore this is yours, and I knew that the minute it was over." He continued, "I feel so lucky, so blessed," before adding, "there’s three more."
