Kevin Costner’s Legal Team Fires Shots at Christine Baumgartner Amid Deepening Divorce Chaos

It seems Kevin Costner’s divorce from Christine Baumgartner is somehow only getting messier. The 68-year-old Yellowstone actor’s legal team claims that Baumgartner is using “stalling tactics” as the two fight over specifics of their prenup agreement, intentionally prolonging what already feels like a long divorce.


“Christine has only thrown roadblock after roadblock up in an unjustified effort to avoid answering this discovery,” Costner wrote in a Thursday, August 10, filing. Allegedly, Baumgartner has failed to respond to the actor’s discovery requests, which include writing specifics of what Baumgartner has taken from some of their previously shared homes.

His legal team is also calling Baumgartner’s claim that she did not understand their prenup agreement upon signing, calling it “gamemanship of the worst sort.”


“Christine avoids answering many of the Requests for Admission (‘RFAs’) based on the claim that the ordinary words used, words like ‘understood’ and ‘negotiation’ are too vague,” Costner’s lawyers claim in documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

According to the documents, Costner’s team claims Baumgartner “cannot admit or deny an RFA because she does not understand the word ‘understood.'” Back in July, Costner claimed that the prenup stipulated that in the event of a divorce, the Yellowstone actor would have exclusive possession of his properties and Baumgartner would have to vacate any of the ones she was living in within 30 days of filing for divorce.


“Her refusal to answer these RFAs is just a stalling tactic designed to avoid admitting there the parties did not enter into any transmutation agreements,” the documents read.


The claim is the latest in what has been a public and messy separation. Along with Costner’s team accusing Baumgartner of not being specific enough when listing out the items she would be taking from their previously shared homes, the two have also fought over things like how much Costner should be paying in child support (the two share three children, sons Cayden, 16, and Hayes, 14, and daughter Grace, 13).


Still, Baumgartner is reportedly “happy to move on” and “hopes there will be less drama now,” but given how the latest has been going in the two’s divorce, it seems like there will only be more drama as the two finalize their split.
