When Kevin Costner cozied up to Jewel during a charity getaway on Richard Branson’s Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, fans were surprised — no one saw this couple coming. However, the unexpected duo may have been fooling everyone because their relationship reportedly isn’t that new.

The romance seems to have happened “organically,” according to an Us Weekly source, because Costner and Jewel have a shared interest: music. “He’s really into his [band, Modern West], and singing, and she’s very much a part of that country-and-western world,” they noted. What people may not realize is that they have “mutual friends” and have enjoyed the same social circle “for years” which is probably why they’ve been able to key their romance under the radar for so long.

That made a dating situation between the 68-year-old Yellowstone star and the 49-year-old singer rather easy. “Kevin and Jewel had an extremely high opinion of each other and have always gotten along great,” the insider added. “They check a lot of boxes for each other.” Knowing that Costner is fresh off his divorce from Christine Baumgartner after 18 years, the new couple is taking it easy with their relationship. Jewel was also previously married to rodeo cowboy Ty Murray; they divorced in 2014.

“There’s no pressure of expectation here,” the source continued. “Kevin just wants to go with the flow — and so does she. But the consensus is that he’s found a real keeper in Jewel and that this has the makings of something that could be very special.” It sounds like the makings of a new Hollywood power couple for 2024. Now, we are just waiting for their hot red-carpet debut.
