Kevin Costner Eyes Aaron Sorkin’s ‘Molly’s Game’ With Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba

Kevin Costner is in talks to join Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba in STX’s “Molly’s Game.”

Aaron Sorkin is making his directorial debut with Chastain on board to play Molly Bloom who, after failing to make the Olympic team, decides to take a year off before law school and get a job as a waitress in Los Angeles. Through a bizarre set of circumstances, as well as untapped entrepreneurial skills, she ends up making millions by running, for eight years, the most exclusive high-stakes poker game in the world. Her life comes crashing down when 17 FBI agents armed with automatic weapons ring her doorbell.

Costner would play Bloom’s father.

Sorkin is also penning the script, based on Bloom’s memoir. Mark Gordon will produce with Amy Pascal. Leopoldo Gout will executive produce.

The Mark Gordon Company and eOne are financing the feature.

Costner can be seen next in Fox 2000’s “Hidden Figures,” which is already drawing early buzz and possible awards-season play for Costner in the supporting actor category.

He is repped by WME, attorney Ryan Nord, and Rod Lake. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
