Even cowboys cry sometimes. Just look at Kevin Costner who was moved to tears this weekend during the premiere of his new movie, Horizon: An American Saga.

The Yellowstone actor debuted the first chapter of the epic Western—a story that has been in the works for over three decades—at the Cannes Film Festival. So, you could imagine that receiving a whopping 10-minute standing ovation for a project that had been near and dear to his heart for so long would make the Hollywood legend a bit emotional.

Emotional he was! Though, it wasn't the sad kind, but instead the kind you feel when it finally seems like your hard work has truly paid off.

"I’ll never forget this," Costner said after the applause eventually died down. "Neither will my children. They all look so beautiful, dressed up so nice, the women, the men. They’re so handsome."

Costner's night was extra-special as he got to spend it with a handful of his children by his side. Annie (40), Cayden (17), Grace (13), Lily (37), and Hayes (15) all attended the premiere with their father. Oh, and to make matters even more sweet—Hayes, Costner's youngest son, made his acting debut in chapter 1 of the Horizon saga!

Costner not only acted in the new Western series, but he directed and helped produce it as well. (He's the real deal, if you needed any further proof.)

“I made this. It’s not mine anymore. It’s yours,” he said. Costner continued with tears in his eyes by saying that he was so "lucky" and that this whole thing had been a "miracle."

He closed off by saying: "Thank you so much for giving me your precious time. I hope that this time was worth it for you. Thank you."

Oh, our hearts!

Horizon: An American Saga will consist of four chapters. The first is set to release in theaters on June 28, with the second one slated for August 16. Chapters 3 and 4 don't yet have a release date.
