Even if you don't like going to the movies, it's guaranteed that Kevin Costner fans will be headed to a local theater at least twice this summer. It's not just because it'll be a great season for films, but more-so because the Yellowstone cowboy has two original pictures set to be released in the coming months: one in June the other in August. These would be the first two chapters of Horizon: An American Saga, a longtime passion project of Costner. (He even had his son join the cast.)

The saga in itself is a Western-epic, so yes, that means you can expect Costner to be saddled up in his best cowboy gear. Horizon will also be told in a total of four chapters. So while chapters 1 and 2 have been given a summer 2024 release date, chapters 3 and 4 haven't been filmed yet. That'll change very soon, though! Costner has plans to move things along as efficiently as possible—because again, this is his passion project—so there might not be a long waiting period in between the first and second half.

Read on for everything you need to know about chapters 3 and 4 of Horizon: An American Saga.

What will Horizon: An American Saga chapters 3 and 4 be about?

There is no concrete answer on what the second half of this saga will be about as of right now—the first half isn't even available in its entirety yet! However, after a trailer and a press release, it is known that the first two chapters will focus on a family during the "Old West," specifically before and after the Civil War—and the effect it had on not just the family at the center, but also the indigenous community at the time.

When will Horizon: An American Saga chapters 3 and 4 be released?

Currently, there is no set premiere date for the latter half of the saga. However, it is known that filming for these final parts will begin soon. Like, really soon! It was reported a few months back that Costner was already working on the beginning stages of chapter 3. "I’m out there, heading west again, pushing a rock uphill trying to make the third one," Costner told Variety of the saga in February of this year. That's proving to be true, because now, Costner and his team are seeking extras to film some scenes for the next parts of the film-series in the state Colorado. The extras who are hired would be sent on to film on Wednesday, May 15—meaning that filming is indeed picking up starting in May and potentially going into the summer months. There is no word on exactly how long it will take, though.
